We can make any screw tip assembly!

We have an extensive CAD library consisting of thousands of prints for screw tips, barrels, screw, nozzles, end caps, etc. If you need a quote and there isn't a print available, simply send us a used sample part and specify what material you want the new one made from. (Hint: Always save your original screw tip assemblies. They are valuable for verification of dimensions when ordering new assemblies.)

No one check valve design is perfect for every application; therefore, we offer three distinct designs to ensure the proper component for your application.

Design Options

O.E.M. Design

Advantages:

  • Good design for most general purpose materials
  • Good for color mixing
  • Good shut-off
  • Excellent for small precise shots

Disadvantages:

  • Can sometimes promote long screw recovery or overheating conditions on jobs using a large portion of the machine stroke
Screw Tip Assembly OEM
PSE/Free Flow Design

Advantages:

  • Faster screw recovery - less heat build up
  • Possibility of faster cycles
  • Foreign makes re-designed without rotating ring

Disadvantages:

  • Possible valve leakage (cushion loss on slow injection)
  • Free flow reduces color mixing qualities found in restricted flutes
  • Tip breakage on start-up due to increased resin to melt in flutes before starting screw
Screw Tip Assembly Free Flow
4 & 5 Piece Design

Advantages:

  • Seat, ring, and body made of thru-hardened heat treated tool steel, nitrided for wear resistance
  • Tough 4140 stud for torque
  • Very good where stud breakage has been a problem
  • You need only replace the stud if other parts are in good condition
4-pc. Screw Tip Assembly

Material Options

H-13 Tool Steel
A good high strength pre-hardened tool steel which is machined, thru-hardened, and ground dimensionally, then nitrided for 72 hours for better wear resistance. H-13 is tough and can handle pressure and torque.

CPM®-9V Tool Steel
A new generation tool steel with a high percentage of vanadium carbide developed for high wear (abrasive) applications. Many end users have reported a much longer tip assembly life. (Some competitors have even made claims of 10 times more life! But consider this, if your H-13 tip assembly lasted 2 years, would a CPM®-9V tip assembly last 20 years? It would be nice, but we wouldn't count on it!)

CPM®-420V Tool Steel
Crucible's CPM®-420V is a new stainless tool steel best suited for corrosion resistant applications. CPM®-420V is a higher performance upgrade for CPM®-440V. Corrosion resistance is significantly better than CPM®-440V. Wear resistance is about 25-50% better than CPM®-440V, due to the higher vanadium carbide content of CPM®-420V (9% vanadium vs. 5.5-6% in CPM®-440V).

D-2 Tool Steel
A high carbon/high chrome tool steel with good wear resistance, but low on torque strength. D-2 should only be used with 4 and 5 piece design screw tip assemblies where the stud is manufactured from 4140, H-13 or another high torque steel.

Nitralloy 135m, Nitrided
A pre-hardened tool steel. This material is machined, then nitrided for 72 hours. This material has a shorter life, and should only be used when low cost is the only consideration. We do not stock screw tip assemblies in Nitralloy 135m, Nitrided.
